Tom Tom is a Dum Dum

I've been taking a lot of flack recently for not updating this blog. Sorry folks... I have to be honest about it. The holidays didn't go very well for us. Those of you who know about my job know why. What's more, I haven't been travelling very much, as of late, because of the economy. That is soon going to change, however.

Yesterday, I had to go visit a customer in New York City. On the way home, I started getting sleepy and felt myself nodding off. I figured the best thing to do was get a hotel and get some sleep. I woke up early this morning to come home.

Now, this year for my birthday, my parents were kind enough to help me get a GPS unit. I've never had one before and I can't figure out how I've gone this long without one. Well, as I'm coming home, I decided I didn't need it since I was on the interstate and knew where I was going. Big mistake! About 45 minutes into my journey I realized I was heading Eastbound in I-78. That means I was headed back TOWARDS New York!

Of course, if I had the GPS on, I would have known this right away and wouldn't have wasted an hour and a half of my time. To get to work, I turned down 222 and went through Allentown on my way home. That's when I got my second surprise. the GPS hasn't been updated with the most recent maps and it doesn't know where all that construction occurred on 222. The dumb thing had me driving through cornfields, residential neighborhoods, etc and never realized that a highway was there. I'm going 60 mph down a perfectly, legitimate highway and the GPS keeps saying "find nearest road, recalculating... find nearest road, recalculating...". Luckily, it has a mute button.
