Beijing Again

Today, I decided two things. First, I'm tired of my blogging software and I would like to begin to write again in HTML. It's easier and the old program doesn't let me use foreign letters in my blog. Second, I should begin to write again in Esperanto. After my first meeting in Toronto, I begin to really think about my studies and I discovered that I am not learning enough. So, I will write more often in Esperanto.

Today, I arrived in Beijing and I have to stay here until tomorrow afternoon when I will go to Hainan in the South of China. Hainan is an island in the Gulf of Tonkin, East of Vietnam. The weather is tropical, so I know that I will always be too hot.

I do not have a lot of time in Beijing for any sightseeing, but I don't want to go anywhere. The pollution is bad today. I can hardly see the bird's nest stadium from my hotel because of the unhealthy cloud next to my windows. (see the photo) Beijing is always like this, but my friend from here told me that the pollution has been getting better. After the Olympics, the city started a new program for the automobiles. Everyday, only some cars can be driven. It depends on your license plate. For example, a car with the last number "9" cannot use the road on Wedensday. If your car has this number, you can't drive during the day or night. Many people go to work by bus or train and the city encourages this. My friend told me that his development where he lives began a new bus service and it is very cheap. For only 7 RMB, you can go to the center of town. My problem is that I can't read the schedules!
