I've now seen it all
It isn't unusual to walk into a rebar shop and see people keeping pets. One of our customers in Bethlehem keeps a cat in the maintenance shop. Another one in New York feeds the strays. (The last time I was there, the cats were walking over me while I was lying on my back fixing the machine. *sigh*) I've even been in some shops where they kept a flock of chickens.

This one is a first. Our customers in Trinidad have a real, live turkey. I don't think he has a name, but he is a fascinating bird. He likes to gobble mostly in the morning. At first, I found the noise quite vexing, but I've become accustomed to it in a relatively short time. He also struts around his cage in a manner which leaves no doubt that he is the king of his domain;
even though that domain does not encompass a great deal of real estate. The turkey is not alone. In a seperate pen there are a few geese and they also keep a large number of ducks. Curry duck is suppossed to be one of Trinidad's favorite dishes, but I haven't found it yet on any menus.

We had to work late yesterday so we wound up ordering a bucket from KFC. I wish I could say I felt guilty eating one of their cousins in front of these fowl, but I didn't. I like KFC and I'm not ashamed to say so.
