Looking at Hong Kong
Just to give you an idea of what my life is like this week... I got into the office on Monday morning and found out we have a job in Malaysia. Because of the airline schedules, I could either leave Monday night or wait to go until next week. Next week means we get paid a week later and also means I might miss the July 4th holiday. I chose to go Monday night.
I rushed home from work and did a load of laundry and then it was off to Dulles. My route has three legs, IAD to LAX to HKG to PEN (Penang, Malaysia)
I left Dulles at 6:00 PM and got to LA around 10:30PM. I was stuck there until the plane left at 2:30 in the morning. We got into Hong Kong around 6:30 am Thur morning and I'm now stuck here until my flight leaves for Penang at 3:00 pm.
I'm not too upset since Hong Kong is one of those airports I've always wanted to see. It is built on an island in the middle of the harbor, so we're complete surrounded by water. I can watch the ships come and go between the tails of the airplanes.
There are a lot of Asians changing planes here for all kinds of exotic ports. That meant I was able to get a decent bowl of ramen at one of the Japanese restaurants. The English on the menu boards didn't make much sense, but the Japanese did.
The shopping looks pretty ritzy, like most international airports. Prada, Gucci, Swarovski, etc. I don't think I'll be buying anything here other than noodles. If I wasn't afraid of missing my boarding announcement, I'd lay down and get some shut-eye. I'm really tired right now.
