Why I'm Here
"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."
~Upton Sinclair
Just to elaborate on what I said earlier, our equipment is going to be used to build a new bridge onto Penang island. (Pelau Pinang in Malaysian) The city began on this island and, as you can well imagine, has overtaken all the available real estate. Try to imagine Manhattan with only one bridge going in and out. Of course, there is a ferry but that is slow and cumbersome. The bridge isn't bad until rush hour when it becomes absolutely chaotic. That is why we're here to build a second one.

The city fathers are very proud of the first bridge which was built in 1985. What I can't understand is that they never gave it a name. You think it would be called after a former mayor or government official. Instead it is simply the "Penang Bridge". I asked if they were going to rectify this situation when the next bridge is completed in 3 or 4 years. Apparently not. The official name of the new one will be "Penang Bridge II".

Don't let this understate the importance of the bridge, however. Main production will begin in the next month or two and our equipment will be an integral part of that. It gives you a good feeling.
