I like Laredo. This is really a nice town. In fact, Laredo is the second fastest growing city in the United States. However, there isn't very much here. I haven't seen many trees. There are a little of tiny bushes, as you can see in the photo. I don't know what else to say.

Laredo is right next to the border with Mexico. In fact, until the Mexican war ended in 1848, it was part of Mexico. Today it is the most important border crossing point between the two countries. This is why it's nickname is the "Gateway City".

Many people in Laredo are bilingual. It is very common to meet people who speak both English and Spanish. I needed to speak to some of the workers today and heard them talking to each other in Spanish. To be polite, I asked them a question in that language like I always do. They answered me in Spanish and then told me in English that I could use whatever language I wanted because everyone understood. I like that!
