More Chinese Dancers

We've got a very busy day today. We finished at our customer's place around 5:00PM and are travelling to our next customer this evening. Since, we have to leave to catch our flight at 7:30PM, plus shower and get cleaned up beforehand, that leaves us very little time for dinner. We decided to do the American thing and eat fastfood this evening.

The closest fastfood restaurant is the KFC across the street from our hotel. From what I can tell, the Chinese are really crazy about KFC. It is incredibly popular here. The menu isn't too different than what we have in the states, but there are some definite changes. For example, we had some chicken sticks which reminded me a lot of Thai satay. Anyway, it really wasn't bad.

The surprise came about half-way through our meal. It seems that one of the gimmicks KFC uses to lure people into the restaurant is to have a sing-a-long/birthday party everyday for the local children. KFC seems to be a great place to bring your kids for their birthday parties.
At first, I saw them bringing out a karaoke machine and I was ready to leave. I hate karaoke. The last thing I need when I'm eating fried chicken is to hear some idiot who sings worse than I do. The karaoke machine turned out to be for the kids.

At the beginning of the entertainment, two KFC employees came out and started chatting with the kids on the microphone. They began the sing-a-long and the kids all joined in. After a couple songs, the braver children were allowed to have the stage by themselves and they sang their hearts out. I was impressed. Of course, there was a rendition of happy birthday for those kids to whom this applied and then the communal dancing started. I hope these ladies at the KFC are paid well.

To be fair, I really enjoyed it. I have soft spot in my heart for little kids and these ones were adorable. It was great to see them flapping their arms in the air while mom and dad looked on and the KFC girls made fools of themselves. Where can you find better, free entertainment during dinner? When they get older, I guess they'll go down the street to the park with the jumping lights.
